You can just run to the Met anytime you feel like it...

We went to see Big Bamboo on the roof and it was cool. JAM, however, loves the Egyptian collection. What a room!

The Maritime Hotel (patio Bar and Restaurant

NO, I didn't take my daughter to a Bar for Drinks and Desert. I took her to a Bar/Restaurant to have drinks and desert (with our friend MW). Great place and a great day in the City.

All you need is love...and a baby.

All you need is love (and some "global capital" sure helps....). Times Square Area advertisement. I have no idea what it was for....but noticed it after I had drinks with a friend who is expecting his first baby in June. Congrats BW, and keep on rocking!!

Happy New Year - NYC's Chinatown Edition

Sunday was the New Year's Parade in Chinatown. I know, Chinese New Year was last week (February 14th). However, that was the Day Flushing had it's parade, and everyone knows Flushing is now home to NYC's largest Chinatown. DMM, JAM and I were joined by the R family from Westchester (always nice to see good suburban people visit the City) and the HF and his wife. HF is Chinese so he provided translation services and ensured the price of our lunch was the real price, and not the price usually given to non-Chinese people. I love RED building (get it,RED, as in Communist RED, oh never mind). It looks so cool against the other buildings.

I love the City, but I still need to go to a Mall sometimes....

We made a road trip to the Palisades Center Mall (www.palisadescenter.com) on Saturday. The ride was great, as the Palisades Parkway is quite nice. We went for Target, but never made it there. The Cheesecake Factory, Eye exam for JAM, and other diversions like Lego store, Starbucks and Macy's got in the way. DMM and JAM went on the Ferris Wheel. I don't do Ferris Wheels.

Papaya Dog / Recession Special / Damn good Hot Dogs!

Call is what you want; by its real name, Papaya Dog; by its most famous advert, Home of the Recession Special, or what I call it, the place to go when you want Damn Good Hot Dogs", its always there like a beacon of light in the darkness. NYC has the best restaurants in the world, no one doubts this. It is so great that one of them does not require you spend a fortune. (DMM and I stopped here for a quick bite on the way to see the movie, Crazy Heart).

A Day in Brooklyn

We were born and raised in Brooklyn (at least DMM and me were). Yet we hardly ever visit. That changed on Sunday, Valentine's Day when DMM, JAM, and a friend of ours decided to trek out there to check out the NYC Transit Museum. JAM loved it, and so did we. Afterward, we went looking for a lunch spot in Park Slope. We found Bar Toto (http://www.bartoto.com) and had a great lunch. The place is really old, with tin walls and roof. All in all, a cool place to have a drink, some lunch, and reacquaint ourselves with dear old Brooklyn.

Blizzard 2010 - The Metropolitan Museum of Art

I was stuck at work, but DMM and JAM were able to get home in time to do some sledding on the side of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Great Pic by DMM.

NYC Eating....at least one day's worth.

I can't recommend this One-Two Culinary Punch to everyone, but let's just say, it worked for me and HF this past Saturday. This, and some beers, made for quite the NYC experience.

Sunday Mornings...

We had to wake up super early this past Sunday to take JAM to a Dentist Appointment (yes the dentist has weekend hours...another reason to love this City!!). After the dentist, we walked about a half mile to our favorite breakfast place, a diner called Viand. While it was freezing outside, it was a nice walk. The streets were empty and quiet. We finished breakfast and it was only 9:30AM. We decided to walk over to the "new" Barnes & Noble. We almost had the place to ourselves. Here's a pic of DMM and JAM at the magazine rack.

The Met at Night.

It is a remarkable building, inside and out. Night time may be best because no tourists can be found, and the grand staircase is all yours.

I See and Love This City

Welcome.

I See and Love this City called New York.

Most people travel through it with their eyes closed. I want to see it all. Come with me as I explore, document, learn, and love New York City.

Along the way, I will comment on what I see, and what is going on in NYC. I will also digress and post random items of interest...or I should say, items that interest me. I hope you like it.
